Hero Bio:

Arist D. Vallas was born in Kanalia Greece, August, 1888. As to when he came to this country no information is available. He enlisted from Reno, Washoe County, Nevada, November 2, 1917, going to Camp Lewis where he was placed in 37th Company, 166th Depot Brigade.

On November 11, 1917, only nine days after entering the Service, he was transferred to Company K, 164th Infantry, and from that organization to Company G, 16th Infantry on January 9, 1918. On December 15, 1917, he sailed for France. His service card shows that he was promoted to Private, First Class, on July 11, 1918, and that July 24, 1918, he died of wounds received in action. His mother, Mrs. Ogoro Vallas, Kanalia, Thessaly, Greece, survived him. His name appears on the Honor Roll of Washoe County.
